As per latest reports on News 24, the Indian team for Asia Cup 2025, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will leave for Dubai on September 4-5. The BCCI announced the 15-member team on Tuesday, with Surya named the skipper and Shubman Gill named as vice-captain

The Asia Cup 2025 will see the return of Gill for the first time since he last played T20I cricket against Sri Lanka in 2024. The tournament will be played from September 9-28 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

India are the defending champions of the Asia Cup, having won the title in 2023. However, this time around, the teams looks a lot different with no Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as part of the team. It's a very young squad with Hardik Pandya being the most capped T20I player in the side with 114 games.

No Training Camp For Team India In Dubai

The report further stated that the Indian team will not have any practice sessions leading into the tournament. The last T20I series that India played was against England at the start of the year, followed by the IPL between March and June. Reportedly, the selectors and not too keen to have any training camps before the tournament starts as they are happy with the squad that they have selected.

The most notable absence from the chosen squad is that of Shreyas Iyer. He has been consistently scoring runs in domestic T20 cricket and also in the IPL. Despite his credentials with the bat and as captain, he failed to find a place in the 15 and was also not selected among the backups.

The Asia Cup will be an important test for the players selected, as their performances will define whether they will be a part of the next year’s T20 World Cup squad. Since only 15 members will be allowed to select for the World Cup, the selectors have tried identifying who can be the actual 15 players while naming the Asia Cup squad.
