The 3-match ODI series will be played on June 2, 5, and 8. The first two matches are scheduled in Colombo, and the third and final ODI will be held in Pallekele.
Chief Selector Ghazbi Asrah Hossain announced the 16-man squad with five notable changes following the retirements of Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim. Both legendary batters were key pillars of Bangladesh’s ODI setup for a long time. Their absence has forced the team to make several adjustments ahead of the series against Sri Lanka.
Litton Das Recalled as Bangladesh Reshuffles ODI Squad Post Retirements
Bangladesh’s T20I captain Litton Das has been recalled to the squad after missing out on the Champions Trophy 2025 selection. Litton, who had a poor run earlier this year scoring just 35 runs was previously dropped but now gets another chance to prove himself in the absence of the senior players.

Chief Selector Ghazbi acknowledged Litton’s recent struggles but expressed confidence in his ability to bounce back. He added that Litton’s form in ODIs could translate into success in T20Is, and the selectors are backing him to lead the team through to the 2026 T20 World Cup.
"Litton Das was in a bad patch, but time is the best healer. He is the T20 captain, so we can consider him till the next T20 World Cup. If someone has to return to form, it is best to spend a long time in the middle. We feel that Litton can take his form from ODIs to T20Is," said Ashraf, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
Soumya Sarkar Ruled Out
Soumya Sarkar is another notable omission. The selectors confirmed he was ruled out due to injury and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. They emphasized that they don’t want to rush his return and are waiting for him to regain full fitness.
"Soumya Sarkar has had three injuries in the last 12–15 months. He had an ACL injury against Sri Lanka last year. He had a finger injury in the West Indies. Recently, he suffered a back spasm when we were considering him for the UAE series. He didn't recover in time, so he couldn't play any matches. We couldn't keep him in the side against Pakistan. We want him to recover fully and return to consideration," Ashraf said.
Taskin Ahmed Returns back from Injury
Meanwhile, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman are returning from injury, and Bangladesh have included five fast bowlers in the squad, including the likes of Nahid Rana and others. Ashraf explained that the decision was made to manage player workload effectively.
"We have included five fast bowlers in the ODI side as Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed are returning from injuries. We are also mindful of Nahid Rana's workload management, so we have kept enough options to choose from," he concluded.
