Australia pacer Mitchell Starc is eyeing to end an 11-year-long hiatus at the Big Bash League (BBL) 2025-26 season. The left-arm bowler has apparently committed to the upcoming season, which is set to begin from December 14 to January 25. The veteran has made himself available for Australia's premier domestic T20 tournament after the five-match Ashes series, which will culminate on January 08, subject to fitness and workload.
Starc will be playing for his previous franchise, the Sydney Sixers, and he has been signed as a supplementary player. However, things have slightly changed this time around as he is no longer committed to play T20I for Australia after announcing retirement from the format earlier last month.

"I can't wait to pull on the Sixers' fresh magenta playing shirt in BBL|15," Starc said in a statement. "Over the past decade, I've stayed close to the club and, all things going to plan, am excited to get back on the field this summer. The Sixers are close to my heart, and I have great memories of our BBL|01 and Champions League success. My goal is to help bring another trophy home to our passionate fans."
Mitchell Starc boost for Sydney Sixers
Notably, Starc last played for the Sixers in the 2014 season and had a terrific season, taking 20 wickets in 10 games. The pacer was also part of the BBL's first-ever season, where he turned up for six games. One of those matches included the final against Perth Scorchers, where his team Sixers, clinched the BBL title to become inaugural edition champions.
Later, the southpaw also played a starring role in the Sixers' clinching Champions League win in 2012, finishing as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament.

Sixers manager and former Australia player Rachael Haynes is super happy at the prospect of bringing Starc back to the side.
"Mitch's strike power with both the new and old ball is unmatched, and we hope he will play a vital role in our push towards the finals," Haynes said. "Even when not playing in recent years, Mitch has shown himself to be a great ambassador for the club, and we look forward to that leadership playing a major role on and off the field in BBL|15."
