Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their maiden IPL title on May 3 beating the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in an intense final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The entire country celebrated Virat Kohli's maiden IPL title win. There was a sense of relief among all the Kohli fans. The expectations they carried on their shoulders for the last 18 years has finally paid off.
However, what happened on the back of RCB's maiden IPL win in Bengaluru was uncalled for. There was an unfortunate stampede that happened at the Chinnaswamy stadium, where fans gathered in large numbers to celebrate RCB's success.
Stamepe At Chinnaswamy Happened On June 4
The reason behind the stampede is being put down to the lack of infrastructure and proper security by the state police. The incident also led to the arrest of RCB Marketing Manager Nikhil Sosale. The incident saw more than 50 people getting injured and 11 losing their lives.
RCB, on their part has announced a compensation of 10 lakhs each to the families of the victims and medical support. The Karnataka government has also announced a compensation of 25 lakhs along with a thorough investigation of the incident.
Meanwhile, several reports have been making the rounds in social media of IPL's official Instagram handle having unfollowed RCB on the platform. However, such reports are fake as the IPL page is still continuing to follow RCB's official handle.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also expressed his disappointment on the unfortunate stampede that happened at the Chinnaswamy stadium on June 4. Siddaramaiah said that the news reached him after the conclusion of the celebrations at Vidhana Soudha.

Karnataka CM's Statement On Stampede
“I came to know that deaths happened at 5.45 pm. At 3.50 pm, deaths were reported at the hospital, but I came to know about it only at 5.45 pm. Until that point, I was not aware of deaths taking place due to the stampede. I have taken action against whoever has done wrong,” Siddaramaiah said.
