Mitchell Marsh scored 60 off 27 balls against MI

Lucknow Super Giants are hosting Mumbai Indians in match 16 of IPL 2025 on Friday. Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first. MI lost their first two opening games. They came back to winning ways in their previous match against KKR.

Talking about LSG, they are heading into this match after a loss to Punjab Kings in their previous match. They started with a loss against DC followed by a win against SRH and a loss again to The Kings.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya's decision to choose to bowl has not paid off so far in the first 10 overs. All the bowlers have been taken for plenty. Mitchell Marsh especially has been very aggressive inside the powerplay. He brought up his third fifty of the season in just 27 balls inside the powerplay.

Mitchell Marsh Dents MI Bowlers In First 10 Overs

Ashwani Kumar's 21-run over which was the sixth of the LSG innings, was the most productive over of the innings so far. MI skipper Hardik Pandya tried all his tricks inside the powerplay to dismiss Marsh but he failed. On the other hand, Aiden Markram has been a mere spectator seeing Marsh take on the bowlers.

After the first six overs, Vignesh Puthur bowling his first over and the seventh for LSG dismissed Mitchell Marsh (60 runs off 31 balls) finally to give MI a crucial breakthrough. He hit nine fours and two sixes during his innings and scored at a strike rate of 195. After his dismissal, Nicholas Pooran continued to attack the MI bowlers. He hit a four and a six in his 5-ball 12 before Hardik Pandya dismissed him in the ninth over. After the first 10 overs, LSG scored 100/2 keeping up the intent.

This is Lucknow's second home game in this year's IPL so far. After the loss to PBKS, they will be aiming to win their first game at home. Zaheer Khan's comments on the pitch curator after the previous loss has been making the rounds on social media.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma is missing tonight's game against Lucknow Super Giants after being hit on his knee during practice. Hardik confirmed his absence at the toss. He is replaced by bowling all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa. For LSG, Akash Deep is back in the XI.
