Rajasthan Royals posted 205/4 in their 20 overs against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur in match 18 of IPL 2025. This is the first time any team batting first has posted above 200 in an IPL game at the venue.

The Royals were well-placed at 85/1 in the first 10 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (67 runs off 45 balls) and Sanju Samson (38 runs off 26 balls) added 89 runs for the first wicket.

The Royals lost the wicket of skipper Samson in the 11th over as the partnership was finally broken by Lockie Ferguson. He came back to dismiss Jaiswal in the 14th over of the innings.

Nitish Rana (12 runs off seven balls) had a brief stay at the crease and could not repeat his heroics from the last game against CSK. It was then that Riyan Parag (43 off 25 balls) and Shimton Heymter (20 runs off 12 balls) added a 47-run stand in quick time. Parag had a few hits and misses in his first few deliveries but then started to hit the boundaries on a regular basis. He hit three fours and three sixes in his unbeaten knock.

Arshdeep Singh broke the partnership between Parag and Hetmyer. Dhruv Jurel walking out to bat at six scored 13 off five balls playing an important cameo and helping the Royals get past 200.

It was a tough day for the PBKS bowlers in Mullanpur. Marcus Stoinis went for 48 runs off his four overs. Yuzvendra Chahal went for 32 off his three as he did not bowl his full quota of overs. Lockie Ferguson picked up two wickets for 37 runs and looked the best of the lot in the first innings. Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen picked up a wicket each.

As said above, the team batting first scored over 200 runs for the very first time in Mullanpur. The home side thus needs to chase a record total to win their third consecutive game of the season. At this point, the Royals look the favourites to win this contest.
