IPL 2025 - SRH vs RR: 1st Innings Report

In a remarkable display of batting, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) showed their might, giving Rajasthan Royals (RR) a 287-run target in the second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 taking place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

SRH were asked to bat first on a belter of a pitch. The innings exploded into life with the SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma tearing apart RR’s bowling. The duo carried on from where they left last season. Head was unstoppable, hammering 67 runs off 31 balls that included a 23-run assault on Jofra Archer, who endured a torrid day.

Abhishek blazed 24 runs off 11 balls, smashing five fours, before Maheesh Theekshana dismissed him, caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal. The powerplay yielded a staggering 94/1, giving a preview of what was going to unfold.

Travis Head, Ishan Kishan Demolish Rajasthan Royals

Head and Kishan forged an 85-run partnership for the second wicket. After Head’s dismissal, Kishan, SRH’s marquee signing at No. 3, took charge with a breathtaking display. He raced to a 25-ball fifty, clobbering Archer for back-to-back sixes in an over that leaked 22 runs. He went on to a smash a century on his SRH debut, also his first in the IPL.

Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed a brisk 30 off 15 deliveries before falling to Theekshana, while Heinrich Klaasen hammered 34 runs off 14 balls.

RR’s bowlers were left dazed. Archer’s four overs cost 76 runs, a nightmare spell, while Fazalhaq Farooqi and Tushar Deshpande failed to stem the tide.

Theekshana’s two wickets were a rare bright spot but he too leaked 52 runs.

Eventually, SRH ended at 286/6 in their 20 overs, just one run shy of the highest total in the IPL history. Kishan remained unbeaten at 106 runs off 47 balls.
