Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 38 runs in the 51st match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL) 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 2.
Chasing 225 runs, Abhishek Sharma (74 runs off 41 balls) started off the innings in a magnificent fashion, dispatching the ball into the stands for a six. Travis Head (20 runs off 16 balls) also hit a four as 15 runs came off the first over bowled by Mohammed Siraj.
Abhishek kept dealing in boundaries, ending the second over bowled by Ishant Sharma with a six.Â

While the first four overs yielded 45 runs, Prasidh Krishna, who became highest-wicket taker of IPL 2025 with his performance in this game, again delivered for his team a crucial time, dismissing Head in the fifth over.
SRH scored 57 runs in the powerplay for the loss of one wicket. Ishan Kishan (13 runs 17 balls), who is going through a horrible form, did not help SRH one bit with his painstaking knock. Gerald Coetzee brought an end to his misery in the 10th over as SRH lost their second wicket at 82 runs.
Heinrich Klaasen (23 runs off 18 balls) and Abhishek attacked Rashid Khan in the 11th over, smacking a six apiece off the leg-spinner.Â
Abhishek tonked another maximum in the 12th over off Coetzee, also bringing up his fifty with that six. It was a one-man show as the southpaw did not receive any support at all from the other end.
Continuing with the fightback, Abhishek hammered a four and a six off Rashid in the 13th over. Prasidh, bowling the 14th over, gave away only four runs.
The pressure eventually got to Abhishek as he perished, trying to take on Ishant in the 15th over. This was followed by a procession of wickets. Prasidh sent Klaasen packing in the 16th over, while Siraj got the better of Aniket Verma (3 runs off 7 balls) and Kamindu Mendis (0 run off 1 ball) on successive deliveries in the 17th over.
With 65 runs required to win off 12 balls, Pat Cummins (19* runs off 10 balls) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (21* runs off 10 balls) smacked three sixes combined in the 19th over bowled by Rashid. Despite the 21-run over, SRH was always going to fall short from this position.
