Rohit Sharma’s men, devastated by the loss and motivated by it, gave it back to Australia in the Super Eight match, knocking them out of the T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma admitted that November 19 was ruined by Australia, and said this was the return gift they gave them.
"The anger was always there. It was in the back of my mind,” Rohit admitted. “Inhone hamaara 19 November kharaab kar diya (They ruined our 19 November). We should reserve something for them. We should also give them a nice gift.”

Rohit Sharma also added the dressing room motivation ahead of the clash and shared the emotional tone that powered the India campaign in the match.
“In the dressing room, we kept talking about it,” Rohit said, shedding light on the emotional undertone that powered India's campaign. “You have these thoughts in your mind. But when you're batting, you're not thinking, 'I want to knock them out of the tournament'.”
After knocking Australia out of the tournament, India went on to defeat Afghanistan in the semi-finals, followed by a nerve-wracking win in the finals against South Africa to clinch the T20 World Cup 2024 title. Rohit Sharma and his men ended India’s 12-year drought of winning an ICC title, and the next year, India won yet another ICC title under Rohit Sharma, defeating New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 finals.
