Cricket fans witnessed a shocking moment in the Caribbean Premier League 2025 (CPL 2025). Guyana Amazon Warriors’ powerhouse all-rounder Romario Shepherd plundered 22 runs off a single legal delivery.
The incident unfolded against St Lucia Kings as Shepherd took Oshane Thomas to the cleaners. Shepherd was batting run-a-ball before the 15th over began. St Lucia captain David Wiese turned to Oshane Thomas for a breakthrough but things did not work out the way he would have liked. By the time the over ended, the Warriors had pocketed 22 runs off just one legitimate ball. This left the crowd stunned and the Kings’ bowlers clueless.
The Warriors went on to post 202 runs in their 20 overs with Romario Shepherd unbeaten on 73 runs off 34 deliveries. However, despite his heroics, Guyana lost by four wickets as Ackeem Auguste’s quickfire 73 guided St Lucia Kings to a massive win.

The sequence began with Thomas conceding a boundary. Pressure built and he lost control of his line and length. His next ball was a no-ball, followed by a wide.
Two more no-balls followed, both of which Shepherd deposited deep into the stands. When Thomas finally bowled a legitimate delivery, Shepherd struck another towering six.
This unusual combination of extras and clean hitting meant Guyana Amazon Warriors scored 22 runs off just one legal delivery. 33 runs came off the over. It was one of the most extraordinary overs in the CPL history and displayed Shepherd’s raw power.
Romario Shepherd’s Rise With RCB in IPL 2025
Earlier this year, Shepherd was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) long-awaited IPL title win. He played an important role as a finisher and scored 70 runs in three innings at a strike-rate of 291.67. He recorded the fastest half-century of IPL 2025. His hitting down the order gave RCB the cushion they had lacked in previous seasons.
The West Indian all-rounder’s contribution was vital in the knockout stages, where his bowling was exceptional. He bagged six wickets in the season and dismissed Shreyas Iyer in the final. His success with RCB has carried into the CPL as he continues to build a reputation as one of the most dangerous all-rounders in franchise cricket.
