The venue for the finale of the Women's World Cup 2025 is locked in. The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur has been confirmed to host the final match later this year. According to the ESPNCricinfo report, the tournament is likely to begin on September 29 and run till October 26. The eight-team tournament hosted by India will witness matches being played in Vishakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Raipur, and Indore apart from Mullanpur, a small village on the outskirts of Chandigarh.
It is to be noted that none of Mullanpur, Thiruvananthapuram, or Raipur have had an opportunity to host a women's international match yet. The Nehru Ground in Indore got the honor to host two Women's ODIs, which included one ODI in the 1997 World Cup. However, the Holker Stadium is most likely to host the World Cup games in Indore in the Women's World Cup 2025 this time around.

Among all these venues, Only the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam has hosted a few Women's ODIs and T20Is, the last of which was played in 2014.
Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka, apart from hosts India, have already qualified for the global event. The final two teams will be decided in the Women's World Cup Qualifiers that will be hosted by Pakistan and played in Lahore from April 9. If the Women in Green qualifies for the World Cup, then the tournament will be held in a hybrid model.
First Women's World Cup for India without stalwarts Mithali Raj & Jhulan Goswami
This will be the fourth time India will be hosting the showpiece event and the first time since 2013. India last hosted a Women's ICC event in 2016, which was the T20 World Cup. On both the home World Cups, India crashed out of the event in the group stage itself. The format of the ODI World Cup 2025 will follow the same one from the last ODI World Cup in 2022. Eight teams will play a total of 31 games. Interestingly, this will be the first World Cup for India after the retirements of Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami.

India's best finish in the showpiece event is the runners-up finish in the 2005 and 2017 World Cup. In the last ODI World Cup, India narrowly missed out on the semis berth.
