Rajasthan Royals (RR) squeaked past Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six runs in a nail-biting Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match on Sunday at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. RR stacked up 182 runs, with Nitish Rana hammering 81 runs off 36 balls, while CSK’s chase stopped at 176 runs, even with Ruturaj Gaikwad’s solid knock of 63 runs. But after the final ball, it was MS Dhoni checking on Rahul Dravid and bringing the CSK boys along that got everyone talking.
As the dust settled on the game, Dhoni, CSK’s former skipper and fan favorite, strolled over to RR head coach Dravid, who is coaching from the sidelines on crutches after a leg injury before the season kicked off. The two legends swapped grins and a handshake as their bond from their Team India days became more evident.
Then, Dhoni turned to the CSK players and told them to greet Dravid. One by one, they stepped up, showing “The Wall” the respect they have for him. Clips of the exchange zipped across social media, and fans could not get enough.

Dravid injured his leg while playing in a local tournament in Bengaluru. He is sporting a cast on his leg and rolling around in an electric wheelchair during the IPL 2025.
"Recovering well. I got some great support. Just, unfortunately, at my age, playing cricket matches wasn’t a great idea I think. But it’s ok. It happens, so it’s fine," Dravid said as quoted on his injury.

RR Deny MS Dhoni Finishing Heroics
The match was a heart-pumper from start to finish. RR came out swinging, with Rana tearing into CSK’s bowlers. His 81 was a mix of clean sixes and clever shots, setting a tough target of 183.
Leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga turned hero for RR in the second innings, nabbing four wickets to rattle CSK’s middle-order. On the other side, Gaikwad stood firm, carving out 63 runs to keep CSK alive. However, after his dismissal, it was down to Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja to finish off the run-chase for CSK.

With 39 needed off the last two overs, Dhoni and Jadeja brought the equation down to 20 off six deliveries. However, Sandeep Sharma got the better of Dhoni as he perished after scoring a 11-ball 16. Jamie Overton struck a six to keep CSK in the hunt, but Sandeep held his nerves in the end as the Royals won by six runs.
