Glenn Maxwell's return to the Punjab Kings was disappointing, as he was dismissed for a golden duck by Sai Kishore in a match against the Gujarat Titans.
With this dismissal, Maxwell now holds the record for the most ducks in Indian Premier League history, surpassing Indian captain Rohit Sharma after he had equaled Sharma’s record just a day earlier in a match against the Chennai Super Kings.
Maxwell was bought by Punjab Kings this season for ₹4.2 crore at the Mega Auction held last year in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Ricky Ponting was thrilled to secure the services of the all-rounder for this price. Unfortunately, Maxwell's first match back with Punjab Kings was one to forget he was trapped in front while attempting a reverse sweep and dismissed for a golden duck.

Although Shreyas Iyer urged Maxwell to review the decision, he declined, believing the ball was hitting the stumps. In reality, the delivery from Sai Kishore was high and missing the stumps, resulting in Maxwell scoring his 19th duck of his IPL career.
Despite Maxwell's golden duck, the Punjab Kings went on to defeat the Gujarat Titans by 11 runs in a high-scoring match, thanks in large part to Shreyas Iyer's outstanding captain's innings of 97*. Vijay Kumar Vysakh also made a significant impact as an impact player, helping secure victory for the Punjab Kings.
