Gujarat Titans (GT) opening duo of Shubman Gill (38) and Sai Sudarshan got the team off to a solid start against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in the ongoing match nine of the Indian Premier League (IPL). On a true blue batting surface, the Gill-Sudarshan duo started watchfully in the first two overs but got much-needed impetus in the third over. Sudarshan struck two boundaries off Trent Boult, and that got the southpaw going.
From there on it was no looking back as he accelerated and took on MI spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the fourth over. The Afghan spinner went for 15 runs, and the game titled in favor of GT. In the power play, the Titans scored 66 runs, and laid a perfection foundation for their explosive middle order batters like Buttler, Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan to explode.

Before the clash against MI, there were talks that GT's opening pair of Shubman Gill and Sudarshan being a bit conservative. However, they quashed those talks by showcasing tremendous stroke play. MI bowlers Boult, Chahar and Mujeeb were a bit guilty of bowling short pitched lengths. Just when Gill was looking set for a big score, he departed for (38) runs as Pandya struck.
GT on course to post a huge score against MI
It is a known fact that the surface at the Narendra Modi stadium stays true to nature, and is a bit difficult to defend. GT have a got a terrific start, and would be eager to cash on to this bright start. Anything below 220 and the Gill-led side will be unhappy. For MI, they need wickets and hop to restrict GT below 200 score.
